[The Star] Glittering do for company’s 40th anniversary

Daibochi Plastic and Packaging Industry Bhd celebrated its 40 years of operations in Malaysia at a leading hotel in Malacca, recently.

About 650 the company’s employees arrived in their best outfits for the grand anniversary celebration.
The glittering night began with the arrival of members of the board of directors into the ballroom.

The companys executive director, Datuk Wong Soon Lim said that the group had travelled a long journey since its establishment in1972 and he attributed its success to the excellent teamwork and collective experience of his workforce.

The guests were entertained with various dance presentations after the opening of the appreciation dinner.
Daibochi senior production executive Hong Chyh Koon said that the event provided a great chance for everyone, regardless of status and rank, to mingle freely and to renew the spirit of camaraderie.

Zainal Mohd Dahim, who has been with the company for 10 years, said he was very excited to be at the dinner and was thankful to the company for appreciating the hard work of employees.

The gala dinner was proceeded by a cake-cutting ceremony followed by the presentation of a bouquet of flowers to Datin Teh Kim Hong, wife of the late Datuk Low Kiok Boo who was one of the founders of Daibochi.
In conjunction with Earth Hour, all lights in the ballroom were also dimmed for 20 minutes.

A slide presentation which featured the company’s efforts to help save Mother Earth was played. Since its beginning, the company has been involved in many green initiatives.

Daibochi no longer sends factory waste to landfills. Instead, it sends the waste to an incinerator to generate power.

Apart from that, polystyrene is banned in the company compound and beach cleanups are regularly carried out.

As part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives, Daibochi extends financial aid for education to employees and also a school in the state.

It also paid tribute to long-serving employees who had been with the company for more than 20 years.
The highlight of the event was the energetic and vibrant Nepalese dance specially dedicated to the company’s 200 Nepalese operators.

They delightedly flooded the dance floor to join the high-spirited performance as music from their home country was played.

The evening ended on a high note with lucky draw of gifts.
