[Business Times] Diabochi eyes healthcare sector

DAIBOCHI Plastic and Packaging Industry Bhd aims to tap the opportunities in the healthcare sector, said its chairman, James Edwin Pushparatnam.

He said the sector, which has stringent criteria on product safety, would help to broaden the company\’s revenue.

\”Daibochi will continue to emphasise on growing the flexible packaging segment as our core business,\” he said in the annual report, released in conjunction with the company\’s annual general meeting here today.

James said the group would also seek to expand its customer base, locally and overseas.

\”Our clients, comprising mostly multinational companies, certainly place us in good stead to expand our portfolio,\” he said.

For financial year ended Dec 31, 2009, Daibochi\’s net profit grew to RM22.8 million from RM8.2 million in the same period of 2008. Revenue rose to RM221.8 million from RM217.2 million previously.

It declared a dividend of 15.5 sen per share.

Daibochi, through its subsidiaries, engages in the manufacture and marketing of flexible packaging materials.

It offers packaging solutions for a range of applications, such as food, beverage, fast-moving consumer goods, pharmaceutical, and industrial uses.
